VHS Tapes
VHS tapes have proven to degrade quickly over time, depending on age and storage conditions. Even in ideal conditions, quality will be less than ideal as time goes on.
VHS-C Cassettes
These were commonplace in the '90's and everyone is sure to have a cassette of their kid's birthday party or cousin's wedding. But unless you have a cassette adapter or a working camcorder, you won't be able to view them. I have the equipment to convert these cassettes to a viewable format on your phone, computer or TV. As with regular VHS tapes, these tapes will degrade as time goes on unless transferred to a digital format.
DO I Have A VHS-c or 8mm Cassette?
VHS C Cassette Characteristics
- 1/2 inch tape
- 45 or 60 minute tapes
- Can be played in a VHS VCR with a cassette adaptor
- Poor image quality
- Poor audio recording
- Larger mechanism
8mm / Hi8 / Digital8 Characteristics
- 8mm tape
- 30, 60, 90 and 120 minute tapes
- Cannot be played in a VHS VCR
- Playback via the camera or dedicated 8mm VCR
- Superior image recording
- Better audio recording
- Smaller mechanism
